China‘s Ministry and Information Technology (MIIT) officially named Nanjing, capital city of east China‘s Jiangsu Province, as China Software City last Friday at the Sixth China (Nanjing) International Software Product Expo.
Nanjing has become the first city awarded the title in China.
The software industry in Nanjing boasts strong competitiveness and sufficient space for development. Its robust development has boosted the development of emerging industries and the upgrade of traditional industries, and attracted increasing number of elites of the industry coming here.
Nanjing is drawing up the 2011-2015 plan for the software industry, and is trying to achieve software sales to exceed 100 billion yuan in 2010. It also plans to see an annual growth of 50 percent to double the industrial scale within two to three years.
The city announced a development strategy for creating China‘s Software City, has rolled out about 20 related policies, and established a special fund of multi-hundred millions of yuan each year to support the development of the software industry.
The software industry in Nanjing has achieved annual industrial growth of 40 percent for the five years from 2005 to 2010. Software business revenue in the city surged 53 percent year on year to 42.885 billion yuan in the first half of 2010, keeping it in the leading position in the country. |
